About Stuart
Stuart Key is a well established commercial photographer who has built up an enviable reputation over the last 20 years. He prides himself on his commitment to providing a professional service at all times, whilst maintaining the highest quality of work.
“As seems to often be the way, my first camera was a gift from my Dad. It was a Praktica MTL3, 35mm film with no autofocus, just a very nifty internal exposure meter. Cutting edge back in the day… the mid-80s if you’re asking.
Having studied both Design and Photography in Southend, Torquay and finally Cheltenham, it was time to get a job. My first step along the path was at a photo processing lab in Devon. My design ability landed me a role in the in-house studio, designing and artworking everything from 35mm film packaging to point-of-sale and shop fronts.
Next I worked at a large design agency in Cheltenham, subsequently freelancing all over the Midlands and South West, spending nearly 10 years in various agencies to gain a unique understanding of the role that great images play in creating inspiring and effective design across all media.
The digital camera industry was in it’s infancy throughout this time, but when Canon released the 10D in 2003 I was determined to tweak my career path back to doing what I truly loved.
My knowledge of the technical processes and requirements to produce everything from a mobile app to a 48 sheet billboard means that I can deliver superior quality imagery specifically tailored to any brief, whilst my design background means I have a total understanding of an art directors vision, and the creativity to execute it.
I’d say my strengths are attention to detail, enthusiasm, honesty and flexibility. My weaknesses are coffee and chocolate.”
